Inbox disconnected? Reconnect it

3 min readInboxOji Help

If InboxOji says your inbox is disconnected, drafting has paused until you reconnect. It takes about a minute, and nothing you have built is lost.

What you'll see

InboxOji shows a banner telling you your inbox is disconnected or needs to be reconnected. You may also see a prompt on your dashboard. The clearest sign is that new drafts have simply stopped appearing in your inbox, even though mail is still arriving that should match your rules.

Why it happens

InboxOji drafts your replies by connecting to Gmail through Google sign-in. From time to time that connection expires or is withdrawn. The usual reasons are:

  • You changed your Google password.
  • Access was removed in your Google account's security settings.
  • The connection simply timed out, which Google does periodically for security.

Whatever the cause, the effect is the same: InboxOji can no longer reach your matching emails, so it pauses drafting.

Your work is safe

A disconnect only pauses drafting. Your rules, writing voice, settings, and your Activity history all stay exactly as they were. Reconnecting picks up right where you left off.

Reconnect your inbox

  1. Open the reconnect prompt

Click Reconnect on the disconnected banner, or go to Settings and find the inbox connection. You can also use the prompt on your dashboard.

  2. Sign in with Google

Choose the same Google account your inbox uses. Signing in with a different account connects a different inbox, so double-check the address.

  3. Approve access

Google asks you to allow InboxOji to access your mail. Approve everything it requests. While Google is still verifying InboxOji, you may see an "unverified app" screen first. That is expected and safe. Click Advanced, then Go to InboxOji (unsafe), then Continue. You are granting access to InboxOji only.

  4. You're back

The banner clears and drafting resumes automatically. New matching emails start getting drafts again, in your voice, waiting for you to review and send.

Tip

The "unsafe" wording on the unverified-app screen is Google's standard message for any app still in verification, not a warning about InboxOji. It disappears once verification is complete.

If it keeps disconnecting

If your inbox drops the connection again soon after reconnecting, a couple of quick checks usually fix it:

  • Approve the full access it asks for. If you skip or uncheck part of what Google requests during sign-in, InboxOji can't reach your matching mail and the connection won't hold.
  • Confirm InboxOji still has access in Google. In your Google account's security settings, look under the list of apps with access to your account. InboxOji should be there. If it was removed, reconnecting through InboxOji adds it back.

If the disconnect keeps coming back after that, email support@inboxoji.com and we'll help you sort it out.
